I’m Devan, a VJ/LD/Lighting tech in Denver Colorado performing as Amplified Visuals. I’m currently the house VJ/LD at Denver's Larimer Lounge.

This page starts off with a video reel highlighting my work over the past year. It contains clips from some of my VJ mixes and show's I've worked. After that, I break down some notable projects with longer highlights and full length content to give you a better picture of how I run shows as a whole.

VJ Reel

First Listen VJ Mix - Daily Bread - Invisible Cinema

The first time listening to a new album is very special to me. That feeling of finally having the unreleased tracks you’ve drooled over for years.  And the anticipation of hearing the new music that’ll soon become ingrained in your life. There's just something about that first listen.

In an attempt to capture that feeling, I recorded a live visual mix on my first listen to Daily Bread's new album, Invisible Cinema. No plans, no second takes, no edits - just pressed play on the album and recorded the raw output from Resolume as if I were VJing at a venue.

Below you'll find highlights I've pulled from this VJ mix in addition to the full length recording spanning the entire album.

N3ptune - Red Rocks

Larimer Lounge

I work as a house LD and VJ at Larimer Lounge in Denver, Colorado. With frequent access to a 14x2m video wall and 20+ lighting fixtures, working at Larimer Lounge has been instrumental in my development as a video and lighting professional. From content creation for the video wall to programming the house lighting desk, I'm constantly experimenting when I'm at Larimer.

I'm operating both lights and video in all clips included in this playlist.

Ramakhandra - Red Rocks

Cosmic space jazz supergroup, Ramakhanda, approached me in advance of their Red Rocks performance with a vision:  Use video to bring the audience into a galactic world while incorporating the band's deep passion for anime.

There were a few key challenges with this project:

  • The band's set consisted entirely of unreleased songs that hadn't been recorded. I would be hearing the  music for the first time at sound check and during the show.
  • Ramakhandra's music is very dynamic and can change on a dime. My video needed to match that pace.
  • I needed to sample anime content in a way that is tasteful, not a total rip off of the original.

With those challenges in mind, I started the sampling journey - Looking for short clips that could satisfy the technical requirements of punting a VJ set. Things like quick hits for drum breaks,  loop-able moments for fills and tense scenes to contrast dreamscape worlds. After editing the clips, I heavily utilized Resolume FX  to insure I could adapt content on the fly.

Spring 2023 VJ Recordings

A selection of recordings created while VJing a live show at Larimer Lounge in March of 2023.

Apologies for the clipped audio in these videos - My attention was in Resolume during the recording and I lost track of audio levels in OBS.
